I sat next to Larry in Honors English class with Mr. Lombardi. I remember him vividly because he was sharp as a tack, enthusiastic and wrote very well. I'd hoped that he would pursue writing as a career, but was aware many of my classmates were expected to enter law or medicine. I heard, many years later, that he went into medicine and practiced in the southern US, but subsequently left the field and moved to Berkeley to write for a living. I hope that is true and that he spent his last years doing what he loved.
